Adam, a lawyer in new york city whose on his way home, but in order to get home he goes through an elevator. while he is in this elevator it stops. then he feels trapped and remembers why he is claustrophobic, and fears the dark.this is all thanks to his parents screaming of their remembering of the holocaust.a guard tries to help him and comfort him,but he had gone all crazy. He is then in a stage where he actually believes he is in a cattle car. which he panics and gets freaked out and thought the Nazis had planned it all. then the limo driver, a Jewish man, also sees his little tantrum/madness and after saving him or getting him out of the elevator he is still kinda of, i guess you could say loopy and he is just then trying to find a path or way to go.
WELL, THE AUTHOR IS TRYING TO KIND OF SHOW HOW PEOPLE'S LIVES ARE STILL EFFECTED BY THE HOLE HOLOCAUST. ADAM WELL HE IS SOME WHAT OF AN EXAMPLE OF HOW PEOPLES LIVE ARE STILL PRETTY SCREWED UP OVER THE WHOLE NAZI KILLING JEWS THING
